Philippe Stephan, a Mulhouse industrialist, founds the first weaving and printing factory. The Alsatian textile adventure begins.

1839 – The Andrinople red dye

Charles-Emile Steiner introduces the legendary Andrinople red dye, marking the Manufacture’s growing renown.

1843 – Woodblock Printing

Motifs engraved on wood are applied color by color, giving each fabric unmatched brilliance and finesse.

1860 – Loom Innovation

The first power looms modernize weaving while preserving artisanal quality.

A global outlook

1900 – International Recognition

At the Paris World Fair, an exceptional 36-color Japanese panel wins first prize, placing Alsace alongside Japan as a leader in textile printing.

1960 – Flat Frame Printing in Lyon

The Manufacture expands into table and household linens with this artisanal technique.
